Washington University urologists are experts in identifying the cause of hematuria, or blood in the urine. As a standard evaluation, they include imaging of the kidneys, ureters and bladder to rule out infections, stones or any malignancies. They may also perform a cystscopy, in which an optical instrument is used to view the inside of the urinary tract, to rule out any causes in the bladder.
